How to compress a photo to 50 KB

  1. Tap "Add photos" or drop your photos onto the box. 50 KB is already chosen.
  2. Tap "Compress".
  3. Download the photo, or all of them in one ZIP file.

Good to know

Each photo is tried at the best quality first. Quality, and if needed the size in pixels, is lowered only as far as it takes to get under 50 KB.

At 50 KB a head-and-shoulders photo stays clear on screen, which is why many application forms use this limit.

We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the photo also fits forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. Need a different size? Choose "Other" and type it in.

Questions

Why do forms ask for 50 KB?

Some online application and registration forms limit photo uploads to keep their systems fast. Check the exact limit on your form; this page makes the photo smaller than 50 KB.

Can I compress several photos at once?

Yes, up to 4 at a time without an account, each up to 10 MB. Each one is made smaller than 50 KB, and you can download them together in one ZIP file.

Can I use iPhone photos?

Yes. iPhone (HEIC) photos are converted and saved as JPG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your photos are compressed by your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
