How to compress a photo to 20 KB

  1. Tap "Add photos" or drop your photos onto the box. 20 KB is already chosen.
  2. Tap "Compress".
  3. Download the photo, or all of them in one ZIP file.

Good to know

Each photo is tried at the best quality first. Quality, and if needed the size in pixels, is lowered only as far as it takes to get under 20 KB.

20 KB is very small, so most photos are also made smaller in pixels. The result is fine for a small application or profile photo on screen, but won’t print well.

We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the photo also fits forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. Need a different size? Choose "Other" and type it in.

Questions

My photo looks blurry at 20 KB. What can I do?

Crop the photo to just the face first with our Crop and rotate tool, so the 20 KB goes to the part that matters. Then compress it here.

Can I compress several photos at once?

Yes, up to 4 at a time without an account, each up to 10 MB. Each one is made smaller than 20 KB, and you can download them together in one ZIP file.

Can I use iPhone photos?

Yes. iPhone (HEIC) photos are converted and saved as JPG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your photos are compressed by your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
