Your files are processed on this device. Nothing is uploaded, and once you’ve added your first file it keeps working in flight mode.

How to compress a photo to 500 KB

  1. Tap "Add photos" or drop your photos onto the box. 500 KB is already chosen.
  2. Tap "Compress".
  3. Download the photo, or all of them in one ZIP file.

Good to know

Each photo is tried at the best quality first. Quality, and if needed the size in pixels, is lowered only as far as it takes to get under 500 KB.

At 500 KB a photo keeps enough detail to fill a computer screen sharply, while loading quickly on websites and mobile data.

We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the photo also fits forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. Need a different size? Choose "Other" and type it in.

Questions

Why make a photo smaller than 500 KB?

Phone photos are often 3 to 5 MB. Many websites, online shops and forms limit uploads to 500 KB, and smaller photos load faster for the people who see them.

Can I compress several photos at once?

Yes, up to 4 at a time without an account, each up to 10 MB. Each one is made smaller than 500 KB, and you can download them together in one ZIP file.

Can I use iPhone photos?

Yes. iPhone (HEIC) photos are converted and saved as JPG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your photos are compressed by your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
