Schengen visa photo

The Czech foreign ministry’s Schengen visa rules ask for photos 35 mm wide and 45 mm high, and Germany’s photo sheet asks for the face to fill 70 to 80% of the photo. Add your photo, line it up with the guides, and print it.

How to make a Schengen visa photo

  1. "Schengen visa (Europe)" is already chosen.
  2. Add a photo taken against a plain, light wall in even light.
  3. Drag and zoom so the top of the head and the chin touch the two lines.
  4. Tap "Make my photos", then print the A4 page at 100% or take the 10 × 15 cm sheet to a photo shop.

Good to know

Each Schengen country’s embassy or visa centre publishes its own photo sheet, so check the one you apply through. The size here comes from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 70 to 80% face rule comes from the German government’s own photo sheet.

The Czech rules also ask for at least 13 mm from the eyes to the bottom of the chin. With the head lined up to the guides, a normal face meets this.
